Titled as a multipurpose workout “machine” and native to the Jump Stretch Fitness Center (the world’s first all rubberband gym), the FlexBand focuses on “progressive resistance training”. FlexBands have been proven effective for flexibility workouts, injury rehabilitation, and weight training over the past two decades.
Invented by Dick Hartzell (also known as the “Rubberband Man”) in 1980, the FlexBands are a series of large, seamless rubber bands fused together in layers on mandrels to promise effectiveness as well as durability.
The FlexBands work by wrapping the FlexBand around the body or body’s extremities to produce natural and healthy ranges of motion and variable-resisted-active-isolated-stretching.
The FlexBand can be used to vary the resistance and actively isolate each specific muscle. This in turn cuts your stretching time in half with better results and a fun approach.
Another way that the FlexBand can be used is for strength and cardiovascular gains for weight lifters and aerobic practitioners. Strength gains can be achieved by attaching the Flexband to free weights or manipulating them around the body for resistance. When incorporating them into a weight lifting and an aerobic workout scenario, the bands provide variable isotonic exercise, meaning that the pressure changes throughout the range of motion. The resistance increases as the exerciser’s angle improves, making this a safe and effective training method.

“Our greatest growth in the future will be in the area of FlexBand enhancement, as we are currently expanding our number of FlexBand Stations. We feel that our strength program will make maximum contribution as long as it always includes THE FLEXBAND!”
-Jim Tressel, Head Football Coach, the Ohio State University

“We did so
me testing with our players and used the FlexBands every day in our flexibility program, and found that we averaged anywhere between a half-inch to an inch-and-a-half improvement in flexibility just during spring training. That sold us right there.”
-Fernando Montes, Strength & Conditioning Coordinator, Cleveland Indians

“Band training is a fantastic tool for developing speed strength, speed strength endurance, starting strength, static strength, reversal strength, power, flexibility and serves as an excellent rehabilitation tool.”
-Joey Batson, Director of Strength and Speed Conditioning, Clemson University
